Antonio Argibay, Drawings

Have attached two things which I think must be posted on the Blog
One is a sketch in class of Vittorio from 1972 with a quote (that is how I spent time in class) “Evolve that into something else unless you think anything is possible”…remember how he wore crew neck sweaters….
The other is an ink drawing I did of Baratti for some show. The original was stolen in the process but I found a picture –not great.

Baratti House

When I visited Vittorio and Carolina in May 2002, they took me to see his famous Baratti House, on the northern side of the Piombino Peninsula, west coast of Tuscany.  Here are a couple of photos I shot there, as well as a Google Earth Placemark, to fly you there.  Check out the crowded beach in the bay just west of the house!
In the right photo you can see Carolina, Vittorio and their good friend Pietro, who drove us there from Florence.
A favorite dream of mine is to visit this house with Sam, on his boat, approaching from the sea.

Vittorio on Sam's Boat

Hi Guys,

I spent the day thinking and reminiscing about Vittorio and I went thru my photos looking for some photo that I can share with you.
This photo was taken in August of 2006 off the coast of Spain when Vittorio sailed with me on the Raiatea, the photo was taken by Nino (his nephew).
I have been drinking VERY FINE Italian wines tonight in his memory, and you should do the same.
Celebrate a great man who loved life and taught us a lot about it.

All the best
Sam

Vittorio Giorgini - 1926-2010

Hi guys,
Just received a sad call from Nino (Vittorio's nephew) letting me know that Vittorio passed away last night, February 18, while having an emergency heart operation that took 12 hours.
This is a sad moment while we all have to part from a wonderful friend and a great human being.
I can clearly state that he was to me a very dear friend and a major influence on my development as a mature man.
I am also very glad that in the last 7 years I had the opportunity to visit with him twice a year and share some fine quality time.
Please have a glass of wine tonight to celebrate a great man who lived a great life and had the chance to share it with us.

Salute Vittorio!!!!
Sam
